Community & Connection

“One of the most vital ways we sustain ourselves is by building communities of resistance, places where we know we are not alone.” - bell hooks

We believe healing happens in relationships—with ourselves, our bodies, and the communities we belong to. We are committed to showing up, giving back, and staying connected to the people and places that sustain us.

At Big Sky, community connection means:

  • Sponsoring community events focused on wellness, yoga, and mindfulness

  • Supporting organizations serving survivors, families, and marginalized communities

  • Donating services, funds, or resources when possible

  • Collaborating with local practitioners and healers

  • Recognizing that access to care, safety, and belonging are essential to mental health

Below are a few examples of how we’re involved in the community — simply to offer a snapshot of what we value and where we try to show up.

BSW COMMUNITY FOOD DRIVE

November 2025

For several weeks in November 2025, BSW held a food drive—and you showed us exactly what care looks like.

We passed our donations onto the Sanford Community of Christ Church, and the pastor’s gratitude was palpable. Their food pantry is in a truly dire state—layer upon layer of circumstances have led to overwhelming need.

The pastor shared a story that will stay with us:

A woman who had relied on the pantry multiple times a month for quite a while recently got her first paycheck. And with it, she returned with four large bags of pantry staples.

That is the kind of generosity that takes your breath away.

That is community.

That is mutual care.

What a gift it is—not just to give, but to be part of a community where giving is part of who we are. Thank you, truly, to each of you who contributed. Your kindness ripples outward in ways you may never fully see.

The Mom Walk Collective Inagural Walk

November 15, 2025

On November 15, 2025 Big Sky had the pleasure of sponsoring the inaugural walk for The Mom Walk Collective | Midland, Michigan.  It was truly an honor! The collective provides a much-needed combination of connection, validation, and outdoor play. Twenty nine mamas and thirty two  littles attended - what an awesome turnout!

The Mom Walk Collective is a rapidly growing international movement, currently established in over 350 cities across the US, Canada, the Caribbean, and South Africa, with an average of 15 to 30 new cities being added monthly.

As mothers ourselves, the Big Sky team understands the journey of motherhood on a deeply personal level. We are passionate about supporting women through every stage, from navigating infertility and loss to providing postpartum care and addressing the ever-changing challenges that accompany raising little ones.

Be sure to check out The Mom Walk Collective's Facebook page to find their walk schedule and connect with other local mamas. The group meets twice monthly, at spaces with free admission.

Tiny Footprints Remembrance Foundation 5K

October 11, 2025

Big Sky was deeply honored to sponsor the Second Annual Tiny Footprints Remembrance Foundation 5K on October 11, 2025.

Tiny Footprints is a nonprofit dedicated to increasing awareness of miscarriage, neonatal, and infant loss, while also providing vital support to grieving families and those with babies in the NICU throughout Michigan’s Great Lakes Bay Region.

This event brought the community together — alongside those grieving in silence, those still holding hope, and those honoring their journeys in whatever way feels right to them. These experiences are often invisible, but the pain, love, and strength behind them are profoundly real.

As a mental health practice, we want you to know: you are not alone. Your story matters. Your grief is valid.

To everyone who participated — whether you walked, ran, remembered, or simply showed up — thank you for your courage and presence. We were truly honored to stand beside you.

We see this as an ongoing practice, not a finished list. We are always learning, listening, and finding ways to stay connected. If there’s a community effort you feel aligned with or would like us to know about, we welcome that conversation. Looking forward to connecting with you!
